It is not new for ace director Ramgopal Varma to create sensations in either Tollywood or Bollywood. One such sensation movie is his recently released movie “Rakth” (The Hindi Version) or “Raktha Charithra” (Telugu Version).
It is based on the real story of the faction feud between two rival groups in Penugonda, Anatapur district, Andhra Pradesh. Penugonda is an assembly segment popularly known for the faction feud of Paritala and Maddela Cheruvu families. However, the director himself admitted that he added some fictional modifications to the real characters. This story is no less interesting than the story of Mahabharatha and can not be called “The Mahabharatha of Antapur /Pendugonda”.
The first part of the movie was released in 22nd October, 2010 and the second part is set to release on 26th November, 2010. Earlier, the faction story was popular only in Andhra Pradesh and now, it attracted the attention of the nation. Several people started making enquiries about people like Paritala Ravi and Suryanarayana Reddy. They became popular keywords for search engines like google, yahoo, mns and bingo within India.
Hence, this blogger considers it his duty to narrate to his readers about the real story, which is subject to several fictional modifications. This blogger found it very odd to notice that several writers, media persons and bloggers, are projecting Paritala Ravi as hero and his rivals as villains. If one considers factionalism as anti progressive issue, both the parties must be projected as villains and if they consider it as heroism, both the parties must be projected as heroes.
When this blogger started browsing about Paritala Ravi and Parital Sriramulu, he got pages of content and when this same person started browsing for information on Sane Chenna Reddy and Sane Venkata Ramana Reddy, he got meager information.
· We have to remember here a famous quotation that “History is a painting but, not a photograph”.
· We can not expect history to be unbiased because it is subject to the prejudices, preconceived notions, and reservations of the historian(s).
· We can not expect a history to unbiased because it is written by those who win the war and by those who form the majority (either in a particular place or during a particular period). It may not give any value to those who lose war and those who form a minority group in a particular place or during a particular time period. Such people should not be ignored and left to the wolves
· Every coin contains both head and tail. “The Other side” or “The Other half” should not be ignored or put in a dark corner
· A real historian has to dig deep into the dark corners and has to unconceal and re-write the forgotten chapters of history.
· A person, who is projected as hero, may be a villain in reality and a person who is projected as villain may not a villain at all
All the above mentioned points made me to commence this blog to throw light on the forgotten chapters of the faction feud.
